CBC maintain title hopes

CBC Old Boys kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a four-wicket home victory over Kwa-Thema on Sunday, January, 26.

With the number of games remaining swiftly decreasing, CBC reside in third spot behind second-placed Benoni Northerns and log-leading Kempton Park.

The victory was set up by a collective bowling performance, which limited the visitors to 134 all-out in 37.2 overs after they were sent to bat.

Jean Rossouw claimed extraordinary numbers of 3/14 from 4.2 overs, with teammates Keith Bennie and Vincent Moore producing equally impressive performances with the ball, claiming figures of 3/32 from 10 overs and 2/19 from eight overs, respectively.

Wesley Coulentianos repaid his teammates’ ruthless bowling attack when he belted a half-century to see the hosts to victory with four wickets to spare.

Apart from Kwa-Thema’s Gavin Mnguni, who scored a team-high 33, the men from the outskirts of Springs were made to pay for their lacklustre showing behind the bat, which saw them all bowled out for 134 after 37.2 overs to hand the hosts a great chance to complete the chase.

Coulentianos finished his innings on 61.
