Suicide attempt intercepted by SAPS

On January 21, members of the Boksburg North SAPS saved a woman from a possible suicide.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the incident occurred at around 8.15am.

“The Boksburg North complaint vehicles attended a complaint by the community, of a possible suicide in progress,” says Lieut Coetzer.

Const Edward Ralebipi, Lorraine Swart, Tembane Nkuna and Timothy Mahapa arrived on the scene, at a complex in Madeley Road, Dayan Glen.

“They discovered that there was a vehicle idling in the closed garage, and jumped the wall to get access to the house.

“When they opened the garage from the inside, the members then removed the pipe from the exhaust of the vehicle, and had to access the vehicle by breaking the small window,” she says.

Lieut Coetzer adds that a woman was lying unconscious behind the steering wheel.

“All the doors were opened, and the woman was lifted from the vehicle and carried into the house.”

She says that the constables wet her face and stayed with her until she was conscious, while they waited for an ambulance.

The Boksburg Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and she was transported to a hospital in a stable condition.
