More blood donors needed – SANBS
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is relieved that a lot of donations were received over the festive season in the wake of a critical shortage.

However, SANBS marketing consultant Ivor Hobbs, urges more donors to come forward to prevent a future crisis.
“The festive season has gone well in terms of blood donations,” he said.
“People should make donating their blood four times this year as part of their new year’s resolution.”
Potential donors must at least weigh 50kg, be between 16 and 65 years of age, be in good health and consider if their blood will be safe for transfusion.
These measures must be met before a potential donor can be permitted to donate.
