CPF Sector One and K-9 unit make drug bust

The Boksburg North Sector One CPF along with the Benoni K-9 Unit arrested a Nigerian national for possession of drugs at 5am, on December 5.

According to Denise Curry, chairperson of the sector one CPF, and Simon Kops, deputy chairperson, they received information regarding the suspect about three weeks ago.

Since then they have been obtaining information to make the arrest.

“We approached the Benoni K-9 unit and requested their assistance with arresting the suspect,” she says.

Curry adds that members of the CPF and the K-9 unit met at a petrol service station, at 4am, to discuss the details of the raid.

“Our members were strategically placed around the premises when members of the K-9 unit went in with the dog to search the apartment.

“The suspect tried to dispose of the drugs by throwing it out of the window, but our members were in place to witness him trying to get rid of evidence.”

She says that 30 packets of drugs were confiscated to the value of between R10 000 to R15 000, while an undisclosed amount of money was found.

The suspect was taken to the Boksburg North SAPS and will appear in court soon.

Curry and Kops are encouraging members of sector one to get involved with the CPF and to report any suspicious activity.

“Residents can SMS, Whatsapp or phone us on 082 889 9260. This phone is with the head patroller at all times,” she says.

They add that when reporting suspicious activities, residents are encouraged to get as many details as possible, such as photographs, addresses or registration numbers of vehicles.

Curry and Kops add that they have placed boards at the entrances to the area with emergency contact details on it.

The CPF also sells boards to residents who show their support towards the CPF.

“This money goes back into the fight against crime,” she says.

Residents can also e-mail the CPF on wecare@impalapark.co.za.
