SAPS warns motorists of hotspots

Motorists must be very careful when travelling certain routes, especially during the festive season.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, people buy Christmas gifts and tend to leave it visible in their vehicles.

“The criminals are more active during festive seasons, as they know everyone buys gifts,” says Coetzer.

“We urge the community to do their part and be more careful with their possessions. Keep your valuables where no one can see it in your vehicle. Be careful when approaching intersections or quiet roads,” she says.

Coezter adds that there are two hotspots to be on the lookout for this festive season.

First one is on the corner of Atlas Road and N12 Highway, and the second one is on the corner of Rondebult Road and N12 Highway.

She says that during the festive season, also be conscious at home. Close your curtains when it is dark as you leave an opportunity to criminals to see what you have in your house.

“Constantly look around you when approaching your motor gates and close the gates as soon as you arrive.”

These safety tips can save you and your family’s life and keep your possessions safe.
