Duduza beat Boksburg

Duduza earned a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Boksburg in their Premier League match at the Prince George Park ground on Sunday, November 17.

Buntu Ndlela produced a standout performance with the bat when he smashed 55 runs to put his side in a commanding position in the early stages of their chase.

Boksburg had set a target of 166 in 36.5 overs.

The result left Duduza in seventh spot in the 10-team log; two ahead of Boksburg who lies in ninth position after six games, with Tembisa occupying the woodenspoon spot.

The opening partnership of Lesiba Ngoepe (21) and Mzamo Xudu (33) yielded a 54-run score as the away team began their chase with purposeful intent.

The introduction of Ndlela to the crease brought significant progression for the tourists with his massive score taking his team’s score in triple-digit territory after the 54-run foundation set by his teammates.

Skipper Tumelo Bodibe scored an unbeaten 22 for the fourth wicket, with fifth wicket Sizwe Zulu, adding an unbeaten one to steer the away side to an impressive victory in just 29.2 overs.

Ngoepe was a thorn to the Boksburg batting order and produced one of the remarkable bowling spells of the season, taking 5-15 (one maiden) in 7.5 overs.

Boksburg top order batsman Ruan du Plessis destroyed in the crease, hitting a half-century in an impressive display behind the bat.

Skipper Marius Labuschagne scored 21 in the other noticeable appearance in the crease for the homeside, with bottom orders Carel du Preez and Neil Meyer suffering duck exits.

Top orders Fritz Sommer and Louis Grobler chipped in with scores of 10 and 11 respectively, Harry Meyer added 13, but it wasn’t enough to shrug off the visitors.
