CBC ease past Actonville
CBC Old Boys’ Craig Parker took four wickets to help his side to an emphatic 59-run bonus point victory over Actonville at CBC on Sunday, November 17.
The homeside scored a moderate 161 in their 50 overs after being sent to bat first by Actonville skipper, Theo Naidoo, who had won the pre-match coin toss in the Premier League encounter.
CBC proceeded to stifle Actonville’s attack with the visitors going down 25-5 in the early stages of their time in the crease.
Divan Posthimus and Jean Rossouw supported Parker with the ball, taking two wickets each before limiting the visitors to 102 in 27.3 overs.
Middle-order batsman Clayton August hit 25 to rekindle a fightback for the visitors before duck-dismissals for Bongani Radebe and Naidoo.
Lafias Moolman put on a promising further 33 before the homeside extinguished any hopes of a miraculous comeback with the dismissal of Xolile Nkomo for one run.
CBC openers Wesley Coulentianos (19) and Henning du Plooy (34) raced to 53 to set the early tone for the homeside with Dylan Bennie’s 25 further reducing the workload for the middle and bottom order.
Parker added 24 runs to his four-wicket scoop to ultimately hand CBC the victory.
