Boksburg bowled out for 101
Kwa-Thema piled the pressure on Boksburg Cricket Club as they cruised to a five wicket win at Prince George Park on Sunday, November 3.

The home team was bowled out after scoring a lowly 101 in 26.5 overs.
This was Boksburg’s third home loss, following a poor start to the season that has seen them win just one game so far – a season-opener against Thembisa.
Skipper Marius Labuschagne won the pre-match toss against his Kwa-Thema counterpart Peter Vonya and sent his troupes in to bat first.
The home team, however, got of to a rocky start when two of their top order batsmen were dismissed with a duck.
Opener John Haywood, who scored an impressive 67 in the unsuccessful chase against Springs Old Boys, was the first to fall to the humiliating nil with opening partner Fritz Sommer, who registered 15 before making his way back to the stands.
Sommer’s 15 was sandwiched by ducks, following the dismissal of batsman Len Meyer for zero.
This put pressure on the skipper who recently became a father to little Nina, to rectify the shaky start, but his score of 11 only put more pressure onto the middle order.
On a day which saw the highest scorer register 19 in the crease for Boksburg, Louis Grobler (14) and Sean Holder (19) hit 33 runs between them before the bottom order of five buckled under the pressure, and could only manage 23 between them – summing up the hosts misery.
The visitors wasted little time to the 102-run task with Ernest Mbalane scoring 15 and opening partner adding 20 to put their team in a comforting position.
Kwa-Thema’s chase was slowed down when Maxwell Mtshweni and Vonya were both restricted to four runs each.
The visitors were not going to be denied with Ephraim Nyawo, who came in fifth in the crease, scoring 10 before Njabulo Zondi (34) and Kabelo Setshedi (6) scored an additional 40 runs between them to steer the Springs-based visitors to victory.
Labuschagne conceded the loss without choosing to make any excuses for his team’s poor showing.
“There was nothing wrong with the pitch today, we just didn’t play well,” he concluded.
