The awarding of police staff, in front of their colleagues, is an effort by Makama to acknowledge those officers who go above and beyond their call of duty and encourage more SAPS members to work harder.

The first award went to the best vispol team, which consisted of constables Brightman Dladla, Patrick Mpisa, Tembisile Nomda and Jabu Shabangu.
Detective William Makgota came out tops as the best performing detective while best relief went to Capt Muki Taukobong.
The best detective group was awarded to Capt Sarah Leburu and her team.
