A race for Warriors

On the weekend of October 19 and 20, friends and families gathered at the Redstone Country Estate in Hartebeespoort, for the seventh annual Warrior Race Challenge.

The two-day event saw both groups of adults and children test their mental strength and endurance levels as they negotiated their way through various obstacles.

Ranked as one of the toughest obstacle challenges in the country, the event consisted of the Warrior Bratz Race and a 500m obstacle course for children aged between four and 13 years old, with a total of eight obstacles.

It also included a tough Rookie Race, which comprised of 15 obstacles and a lso a Black-Ops Race with a whopping 30 obstacles.

Ricardo de Souza from the Advertiser was one of the participants on Saturday, where more than 3 000 people got involved in the activities.

De Souza and team partner Rohan Swarts formed team “Twice as Nice”. They finished the Rookie Race in one 1:35:22 hours to earn themselves a 145 position.

The Rookie Race included obstacles like Mad Monster, where participants went through a pool of mud, followed by crawling under barbed wire and going through electric wires.

A Caxton East Newspapers employee, Camryn Bezuidenhout, was also part of the activities, and took part in the Rookie Race as part of team Mud Buddies 2 (there were two Mud Buddies teams with five members each). They finished 428th in a time of 02:10:16 hours.
