Illegal cigarette importer caught

According to Dawn Park police spokesperson, Capt Charles Tshabalala, police received a drug tip-off, and went undercover to investigate.

“Police found that the man was not selling drugs, but cigarettes, which he imports into the country illegally,” says Tshabalala.

The man has been arrested and will appear in court on Wednesday, November 30.

Another man who is said to be in his late 30s has also been arrested in Van Dyk Park for possession of stolen goods.

According to Tshabalala, the man was found in the early hours of the morning, allegedly in possession of goods stolen during house break-ins around Dawn Park.

Following his arrest, police found that he had numerous criminal records.

The man will also appear in court on Wednesday, November 30.
