East Rand dance festival on its way

The annual East Rand Dance Festival is back, and will start on Friday, October 11, until Saturday, October 19, at the Kempton Park Civic Centre.

The festival will see ballet studios from across the East Rand participating, with Karen Symons School of Ballet from Parkdene being the sole representative for Boksburg.

During the week of competition, proceedings will run from 2.30pm until 10pm during weekdays and from 9am to 10pm on Saturdays (October 12 and 19), with Sunday being the shortest day, with competition starting from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.

The festival will include individual and group competitions until Friday, October 18.

The final day will see all victors from previous festivals compete against each other in the penultimate championship.

The adjudicator for this year’s championship will be Beverly Acquisto from Pretoria, who will be joined by Wilcarina Yeats and Joyce Myroff.

The championship competition will start at 9am to 6pm with the prizegiving being the zenith of the festival.

Entry fee for the audience will cost R15.
