Red balloons to raise awareness

Hundreds of red balloons will be released on Thursday, October 10, in protest against the "inhumane" killing and oppression of the white ethnic minority of South Africa.

This is according to the organiser of the event, Allan Nurse.

“Red October is not a communist party as the new government refers to it.

“We are merely raising awareness as white people, on everything that is going wrong in South Africa,” he says.

Red October supporters will gather at the Gas Boys, 159 Elizabeth Road, Boksburg, to release the balloons.

The October Revolution, commonly referred to as Red October, was a seizure of State power by the minority in 1917, when a nationwide crisis had developed in Russia affecting social, economic and political relations.

These events are what have led the group to associate themselves with the name Red October, as they feel they are fighting the same struggles.

“The Red October is an annual gathering of white people all over the world to protest and unite in our cause to raise our concerns regarding our safety and security,” says Nurse.

Nurse adds that Red October is a platform to raise awareness on the ills of society against the minority race in South Africa.

“This includes the killing of farm owners, and also the torture of the elderly, women and children. We also stand against corrupt governance, destruction of infrastructure, the State of government hospitals, the poor education system, dangerous neighbourhoods and filthy streets.”

Red balloons will be available at the venue, but protestors are encouraged to bring their own balloons, and helium will also be available on the day.
