
* Bhekumuzi Mbatha (40), from Vosloorus, appeared in the newly established sexual offences court on a charge of rape.
He pleaded not guilty on August 26 and was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment on September 2.
On March 3, the accused performed an act of sexual penetration with a 10-year-old girl.
He had a previous conviction for rape, from 1991, and another, for using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, from January, 2005.

* Themba Mlangeni appeared in court on a charge of housebreaking with the intent to steal.
He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on June 6, and sentenced on September 19.
He will serve eight years imprisonment, of which four years will run concurrently with a five-year sentence he received from the Germiston Regional Court, for a previous conviction.
On December 27, 2008, the accused broke into Cindy Scott’s premises and stole items to the value of approximately R25 000.
He had previous convictions of robbery in 2001, assault in 2003, theft in 2004 and theft in 2012.

* Mpho Mamjeta (32) and Eric Mokomane (34), both from Alexandra, appeared in court on a charge of housebreaking with the intent to steal.
They pleaded not guilty on February 5, were found guilty on June 26 and sentenced on September 19, to seven years imprisonment, with two years suspended for five years.
On August 29, 2011, the men broke into the premises of Waste Water Technologies and stole various items.

* Jabulane Nkambule appeared in court on a charge of theft.
He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on June 19, and sentenced on September 25, to 12 months imprisonment.
On November 2, 2012, the accused stole a packet of Wet Wipes to the value of R25.99 from a Jet Store.
He had previous convictions of house breaking from March, 2009, and theft from January, 2013.

n Irvin Mokonea (23), from Kensington, appeared in court on a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and was sentenced, on September 25, to a fine of R2 000 or two months imprisonment, with a further two years suspended for five years, as long as he pays the complainant for the damages that were caused to his vehicle.
On September 1, the accused was driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his vehicle and drove into another vehicle.

* Thulani Malebo (24), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.
He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced, on September 20, to 18 months imprisonment suspended for five years.
On September 5, the accused stole 21 iron rods from a high school.

* Sibusiso Radebe (28), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of housebreaking, with the intent to steal.
He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced, on September 20, to 36 months imprisonment, of which 30 months was suspended for five years.
On June 5, the accused broke into a house in Selena Street and stole R600.
He had previous convictions of robbery from March, 2002, and May, 2010.

* Sithembiso Sigebudo and Johannes Randall, from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.
They pleaded guilty and were found guilty on September 11, and were sentenced on September 23, to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for five years.
On August 29 the men stole a three-legged black pot from another resident.

They pleaded guilty and were found guilty on September 10, and were sentenced on September 23, to 12 months imprisonment.
On August 29 the men stole two rims and three wheels from Chocs Scrapyard.
