Soccer tournament to keep youngsters away from crime

Young people of Reiger Park and surrounding areas are invited to take part in a six-a-side soccer tournament, called Stop Crime.

The event will start at 10am on Saturday, November 2, at the Stanberry traffic circle, in Reiger Park.

According to one of the organisers, Valerio September, the aim is to keep youngsters busy and out of trouble.

“We are concerned about the rising substance abuse and violence among youth in our communities,” he says.

“In in our efforts to overcome these problems, we have organised this event to help keep the youth busy and to turn them away from crime and criminal activities.”

For the event to be a success, the organisers are appealing to parents to support the initiative, aimed at keeping their children away from negative peers and teaching them valuable characteristics.

The registration fee is R500 per team.
