Gangster dies in police shootout

A well-known gangster, in Windmill Park, was killed in a shootout with police on Friday, September 20.

According to Capt Charles Tshabalala, from the Dawn Park Police Station, the incident took place at about 2pm, when police received a tip-off that a man was chasing his girlfriend on the streets with a firearm.

“On arrival at the scene, the man fired at police who responded swiftly and shot back in self-defence,” he says.

“The attacker sustained head injuries and died on the scene.”

According to a source known to the Advertiser, the man had allegedly been terrorizing the community of Dawn Park for the past 12 years.
