Cleansing levy a mistake

The Advertiser recently revealed that the fixed monthly area cleansing levy, to the amount of R5.70 which was being charged to Witfield residents by the municipality, would now be retracted.

According to Sam Modibe, spokesperson for EMM, a special mayoral committee meeting resolved that the implementation of the levy was erroneous and that it should, in the interim, be reversed.

“There is an internal and administrative process underway, dealing with the technicalities in respect of the levy implementation,” he says.

Following the process, Modibe says the resolution will then be communicated to residents.
