Local student invited to rugby festival in Portugal
Dylan Lombard, from Hoërskool Voortrekker, has been chosen to take part in the Portugal Rugby Youth Festival, in April, next year.
The u-16 open side flanker was selected as one of the stand-out players in Voortrekker’s Beeld Trophy final victory over Hoërskool Panorama earlier this year.
Subsequently, Lombaard has been awarded the chance to represent All Out Sport (AOS) Warriors at the festival.
AOS Warriors is a South African-based rugby club which gives young rugby players, who participate in competitions like the Beeld Trophy, a platform to shine, by organising international tours to help them realise their dream.
Dylan is not only an ace on the pitch, but also flourishes in the academic department and his top 10 student status pays tribute to his academic excellence.
The trip to the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, will cost his family R33 000 and they are seeking ways to raise the money, or sponsors willing to help to pay the amount.
Anyone willing to help should contact Claudia Nel on 011-571-3295, or email her at cnel@bwlog.com, or www.barloworld-logistics.com.
Should Dylan manage to be part of the tour, it could be his first major breakthrough in the pursuit of his dream – which began when he was in Grade Two.
