New athletics season gets out the blocks

The pre-season of track and field will be starting on Saturday, September 28, at the Boksburg City Stadium.

The events will be mainly for the sub-youth to prepare them for the upcoming Sub-Youth Inter-Provincial Championships, which will be held on November 23, in Potchefstroom.

The two-hour special event concept has been introduced by the commission and there will be one every month, covering specific areas like the throw-only event.

This concept is aimed at assisting in bringing excitement into athletes and also to use to attract sponsorship and support for track and field.

The two-hour challenge will start on October 9.
