St Dominics celebrates 90 years
St Dominic's Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg, celebrated its 90th birthday over a two-day festivity, filled with various activities.
The school was established in 1923, and is an independent academic institution comprising of Pre, Junior and Senior school divisions.
The headmaster of the school, Roger Loring, says 90 years of existence, means 90 years of producing good citizens of the country, instilling the schools values in them and creating a better society.
“Our school has a philosophy of excellence, which is different to other schools; we do things the right way for the right reasons, and we follow Gods example.”

Loring says that this is what has kept the school going strong for all these years.
The school received a treat from baker Paul Vieira, who baked a look-alike cake of the school’s architectural structure.
“It took my team and I two weeks of planning the engineering and technical aspect of the cake, and three days to bake the actual cake,” said Vieira.
Loring says that girls work harder than boys, and that the school has produced a 100 per cent matric pass rate for the last 90 years.
