Residents left in the dark for days

Residents on Cornflower Street in Little Germiston, Reiger Park, have been left without power since Saturday afternoon, July 27, and they claim that they have contacted the municipality repeatedly and received no answers.

One of the upset and frustrated residents waiting for the power to come back on, Jacky McDonald, says that they are not kept updated about the power problem, and she phoned the municipality call centre repeatedly, but received no response.

McDonald says with no electricity, there’s no hot water, no refrigeration for food, and she had to dump most of her perishable items.

Yvonne Sentry is among the hundreds of families aggravated with the Ekurhuleni metro.

Sentry demands to know why they are left in the dark – without electricity and without answers, for days.

According to unconfirmed reports, a man drove a truck into utility pole on Saturday afternoon in Ramaphosa, and crashed down the power pole, damaging power cables.

No comment received from the metro yet.
