
Two surgeries in Witfield were hit by robbers on March 3.
In the first incident, three staff nurses and three patients were robbed of their cellphones, jewellery and a laptop valued at about R60 000 at a surgery in Witfied.
The complainant told the police that a man arrived at the surgery in the morning and enquired about the consultation costs.
The man was provided with information and was advised to come back around 2pm when the doctor is available.
According to Boksburg North spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the man came back later on with another man, both armed.
“The pair allegedly held staff and the patients hostage while they stole cellphones, jewellery and a laptop before fleeing the scene,” Ramaube said.
No one was injured during the robbery.
The police are investigating a case of business robbery, no arrests have been made.
* The surgery located at corner Leeuwpoort and Bank streets was also robbed by a thug posing as a patient.
According to the police report, the suspect, described as a coloured male and his name known to the complainant, arrived at the surgery at about 4pm and asked for medical attention.
He was attended to, but later threatened the doctor with a firearm and demanded money. The robber stole money and a cellphone before running out of the building. The doctor gave chase and the criminal ran towards the Boksburg Lake and disappeared.
The cellphone was found dumped on the ground near the Engen garage on Commissioner Street.
