Rampant Northerns prove too strong for Boksburg
A defeat of this nature has been brewing for the local side to be fair, who’ve struggled for form since the turn of the league into the second round of play.

Benoni Northerns punished a woeful performance by visitors Boksburg Cricket Club to bag an easy 10-wicket, bonus-point win in Benoni on February 8.
Boksburg captain Adam Forbes lamented: “We were outplayed totally, it was by far our worst day we’ve had this season.”
The Prince George Park outfit has been kept afloat by brilliant individual performances against less fancied sides and an impression of higher quality sides punishing them, increased by the game.
Northerns, who are functioning like a well-oiled machine on the other hand, deserve all the credit and seem to be peaking right on schedule with the top six upon us.
The top six are the top six clubs on the Eastern Premier League log after the February 8 round of play.
They will compete against one another one more time as proceedings take another step in deciding the Eastern Cricket Premier League kings for the 2019/2020 season.
Sent to bat first, the visitors were handicapped by the duck dismissal of Forbes, who will be the first to admit that he and his teammates must get their game together sooner rather than later.
All of Boksburg’s top order, including the trio of Jayden Snyman, Gareth Lonie and Kane Horwell combined for 55, much to their detriment in the long run in deciding the match.
Northerns’ bowling attack meanwhile, as demonstrated during their visit to Boksburg to take on CBC Old Boys a fortnight ago, was again relentless and nothing short of brilliant.
Kundai Mattigimu took 4/33 in eight overs of bowling with teammate Matthew Wittstock claiming 3/4 after only 3.2 overs; with the pair all but winning the encounter for their side.
Lonie offered the most resistance for the brilliant Northerns bowling attack with 35 runs, but nothing was going to stand in the host’s way on the afternoon, it seemed.
Northerns’ openers Vaughn Humphrey and Musa Twala quickly put the visitors out of their misery, smashing unbeaten scores of 58 and 61 respectively.
