The Boksburg police are hunting a gang of about three robbers who forced their way into a residential property, killed a seven- year-old girl and injured her mother during the early hours of November 22.
According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Const Ntsako Ledwaba, the mother and her daughter, Mmamodile Mashabelo, were woken up by the Sotho-speaking men who had broken into their home in Angelo informal settlement at about 1.12am.
Once in the building, the robbers instructed the occupants to cover their faces with the blankets, before they stole four cellphones, R3 000 in cash and clothes.
One of the assailants opened fire on the victims and the bullet went through the mother’s left arm before hitting the girl in her upper body.

- Another killing
In another killing, the Boksburg police are investigating the murder of a Comet village man who was reportedly stabbed by a gang of men from his neighbourhood on November 24.
According to the Boksburg police, the man was stabbed in the back between the shoulders in an illegal shebeen at house number 86 in Comet.
Following the stabbing, the victim was rushed to Tambo Memorial Hospital where he died upon arrival.
The police spokesperson, Const Ntsako Ledwaba, was unable to confirm if the suspects, their names known to the police, were arrested at the time of going to press.
