Residents want Parkrand Extension One to be enclosed

The residents are now pressing for the enclosure of the area as a direct response to the increasing crime.

In a recent meeting of residents of Parkrand Extension 1, it was agreed that crime in the area had reached unacceptable levels.

While the main resolution of the meeting was in favour of the enclosure of the residential area, it was also resolved, among other key issues, to endorse a board with a mandate to register an NPO.

The residents were also provided with information on legal requirements in order to sign a mandate form to confirm consent.

Engagements are ongoing with the community. For further information and support of the enclosure, send an email to enclosure@parkrandext1.org

“Everybody who attended the meeting made the same point that they have had enough of crime and feel that the enclosure will help combat break-ins, hijackings and opportunistic crime,” said ward councillor Marius de Vos.

“An entrance that is controlled and guarded by a security guard will definitely reduce crime and keep criminals out of fenced areas. Even the security company present confirmed that criminals are still breaking in despite increased visibility in the area,” said de Vos.

The next meeting is scheduled for 8am on November 2, at Gloria Bosch Park on Brink Avenue.
