Odds favour Tristan to be crowned new champion
The Boksburg fighter recently caught the eye when he outpointed Ettiene van Niekerk at Emperors Palace in a bout where he was mostly the aggressor.
Following seven fights across two years in his young professional career, the Hammer Gym’s promising welterweight pugilist Tristan Truter will fight in his first title match for the vacant ABU Youth welterweight title on June 23.
Confirming the news to the Advertiser about his imminent clash against Xolisa Nonkonyane in the Eastern Cape, Truter, 19, said: “I got a shot to go and fight for the vacant ABU Youth welterweight title in Eastern Cape.
“I feel very excited to go and claim my title.”
If experience is anything to go by, Truter (6-1) will step in the squared circle as the favourite to take claim of the title compared to his opponent, who only has a single fight under his belt.
