Radio presenter from Parkrand wins award

The presenter was also oversees from January to March for filming and will soon appear in a popular TV show (to be revealed soon).

Voice of Wits FM (VOW FM) presenter Michael Venter (21) from Parkrand was recently acknowledged for his talent when he was awarded Best Afternoon Radio Presenter on Campus at the Radio Liberty Awards at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The award was well deserved for the hardworking third year BA law student a the University of the Witwatersrand.

Mike is also excited to showcase his talent on East Coast Radio, a leading commercial radio station in KwaZulu-Natal, from May 10.

“Initially, I didn’t even care about the Radio Liberty Awards, but when I got there it was incredible and I realised what an honour it is to be among the best presenters in the country,” said Mike.

He will still be staying in Boksburg to continue his studies.

According to Mike, varsity can be exhausting and he wanted to do something productive to relieve stress and couldn’t pass the opportunity to become part of VOW FM.

It was always Mike’s dream to be a radio presenter. He started his career on the Late Night Show, for a learning experience.

After a while, he moved to the Breakfast Show and then decided to move to the Afternoon Drive.

“Radio will always be my first love as it gives me the opportunity to connect with people. My listeners are my friends. Radio is personal and I can do my own thing, which is why I’m so crazy about radio.”

Mike will always be grateful for the great experience he had at VOW FM.
