Reserve side qualify for the Eastern knockout cup quarter-finals

Dates for the quarter-finals are yet to be released.

The Boksburg Football Club’s reserve side brought the silver lining to a dark cup weekend at the Boksburg City Stadium on Saturday, July 14.

The day began with smiles for the home team and its fans as they progressed to the Eastern knockout cup quarter-finals following an impressive 3-1 win over visiting side, Alberton.

Arnold Tlopola and u-17 forward Rudean Peterse were on the scoreboard for the reserves, whose next opponent is yet to be confirmed.

The day’s main event, however, did not go as planned for the home side’s seniors as they came crashing down following a 3-0 drubbing at their own backyard.

Blues reserve side hero, Peterse, also featured for his u-17 teammates on Sunday, July 15, when the Junior Blues edged Wits Juniors in a five-goal thriller.

Peterse was again on target alongside a Shane Radebe brace for Boksburg to hand them a 3-2 victory in the Eastern Super League encounter.
