Tukkies beat United in Carlton clash

The University of Pretoria proved to be too strong for Valke Peregrine League front-runners East Rand United in their Carlton League clash in Reiger Park on May 12.

Following a brave first-half performance by United, which saw them within touching distance of the Pretoria outfit at 19-8, Tukkies showed their class and found another gear before amassing six tries to United’s single to end up as comfortable 38-11 victors.

All of United’s points came from the backline with team kicker and inside centre Cameron Rooi adding two penalties at either side of the break to Jackie Jonkers’ try.

With United’s Peregrine League assignment on pause because of Carlton League duties, their next meeting will see them remain at home to welcome Impala.
