There are positive signs for Boksburg Football u-16 coach Ernest Seforo and the rest of his coaching staff as they continue to prepare for the imminent Easterns Super League season scheduled to begin in early April.
Seforo’s exciting u-16 team walloped Burning Stars 6-1 in Primrose in their friendly encounter on Saturday, February 24.
The Blues took a near-unassailable 3-0 lead going into the half-time break courtesy of an Eli Holster brace and a Lol Yawa strike.
Kealin Hurst, Rainier Goibaiyer and Rudean Peters piled on the misery for the hosts in the second stanza as the junior Blues hit six. Stars’ consolation goal came from the penalty spot.
Meanwhile, the Boksburg seniors faced Liverpool Football Club later in the day at the same venue and lost 4-2.
Seforo, who was also in charge of the seniors, used reserves for the beginning of the encounter before introducing the majority of his incumbent XI.
The trainer made a total of eight changes and there was an immediate improvement as the Blues rallied and halved the deficit.
Unfortunately for the local side, that’s how proceedings would stay – with four goals proving a bridge too far.
“We created so many chances in the second half when I introduced the first team players and we could’ve easily won the match,” Seforo said confidently.
“The boys played really well, but unfortunately they only managed to score two goals.”
