LISTEN: Boksburg too hot for Duduza in premier league

The local skipper told the Advertiser that he and his teammates have a point to prove every week after just missing out on a spot in the Premier League A log.

The Boksburg Premier League side’s barrage continued as the Prince George Park outfit imposed itself in a masterclass performance to beat the visiting Duduza by 177 runs on Sunday, February 25.

It was a significant victory for the home side as leader Adam Forbes led from the front with his first Eastern Cricket Premier League century.

The hot home side, who came in at the back of a 183-run win against KwaThema a fortnight ago in their Premier League B opener, carried over its momentum against a hapless Duduza XI.

This is after Forbes won the toss and elected to bat.

It proved to be a master stroke decision from the 20-year-old skipper who reached his milestone off 122 deliveries.

He ended up posting 106 runs on the board.

Asked how he felt following his milestone, the charismatic captain responded: “I’m super chuffed. It’s the first Premier League 100 for me. It will definitely go down in my memory books.

“It’s so much easier when your team is one, and all have one common goal.”

Forbes’ opening partner Bryce Parsons nicked 46 with Chris Opperman and new addition Connor Esterhuizen adding 39 and a valuable 18 respectively.

Gerhard Booysen (unbeaten 30) and Jordan Hollard (undefeated 18) saw Boksburg home as the home team maximised its allotted 50 overs – finishing their innings on an imposing 309/7.

Boksburg was equal to defending their good-looking score – suffocating the visitors with tight bowling and fielding, forcing them to make mistakes.

With the pressure well on, Duduza openers Cameron Brown and Andile George buckled under the heat, going out for 0 and 6 respectively.

Thapelo Ditle (24) and Pheeto Phadine (36) were the only resistance as it quickly became clear that the target was a bridge-too-far.

Phadine was his side’s top scorer before the travellers gave in inside 26 overs for a total of 107.

Boksburg pair Parsons and Hollard were the standouts with the leather, taking 3/24; 1 and 4/15; 1 respectively.

Duduza duo Ditle and Petros Mofokeng both took braces – ending with 2/56; 1 and 2/71 respectively. – @SabeloBoksburg
