Kleinfontein BC wins at Natalie Moffat event

The tournament in aid of Moffat saw teams made up of five players play five games of six ends.

The Kleinfontein Bowling Club (KBC) took top honours at the Natalie Moffat fund-raising event, at the Atlas Bowling Club on February 11.

Moffat (40) started playing bowls at the Atlas Bowling Club in 2005 and has been very successful.

Despite being mentally handicapped all her life, she persisted and eventually qualified as a reflexologist.

In 2007, Moffat contracted a virus which detached her retinas, leaving her blind. Recently, she has also been diagnosed with Lyme and Parkinson’s diseases.

KBC walked away with prize money of R2 500 while EKB Juniors and George Walton’s Team – who finished in second and third -walked away with R1 250 and R750, respectively.

The Atlas Bowling Club as a whole put in a collective effort to make the event a success and chairman George Hinstridge agreed.

Member Sylvia Tarbatt Smith arranged all the prizes with treasurer and club ex-president Johan van Wyk taking care of the arrangements of the meeting.
