Sunward Park High achieved a 96 per cent pass rate in the 2017 NSC exams with principal Ansie Peens lauding this achievement for it having shifted the school's matric results back into the 96-100 per cent bracket.
She added that the class of 2017 was very special as it was the first group of learners to be introduced to e-learning in January 2013.
“We are also very excited to note a 10 per cent improvement in our bachelor passes. The hard work and dedication of our teachers and learners have paid dividends!” Peens said.
The matrics achieved 146 bachelor passes and 86 diploma passes out of a total of 265 learners who wrote the NSC exams.
The top achievers were:
Five distinctions: Jacques du Plessis (civil technology, engineering graphics and design, life orientation, maths and physical sciences).
Four distinctions: Mmatlala Shernel Kekana (English, history, life orientation and religion studies).
Seven distinctions: Neo Lekeno (accounting, English, life orientation, life sciences, maths, physical sciences and religion studies).
Four distinctions: Rixaka Ntuli (business studies, history, life orientation and religion studies).
Four distinctions: Perseverance Chivaviro (economics, life orientation, tourism, religion
studies).
Four distinctions: Mpho Maboke (English, history, life orientation and religion studies).
Four distinctions: Thando Phakathi (life orientation, life sciences, maths and religion studies).
Five distinctions: Nandi Mokgatle (accounting, life orientation, life sciences, physical sciences and religion studies).
