Rain wreaks havoc for local teams at T20 tournament
Rain wreaked havoc during the second round of the Eastern Cricket T20 tournament on October 8.
The wet weather resulted in the abandonment of three Group B games played in total between Boksburg’s two representatives in the tournament: the Boksburg Cricket Club and Christian Brothers’ College.
In the morning session, Boksburg were scheduled to face Tembisa at CBC and CBC were pitted against Springs Old Boys at Prince George Park.
The Boksburg game, however, was called off without a single delivery due to a wet pitch.
In their latter fixtures of the day, CBC faced Tembisa while Boksburg faced one of the tournament’s favourites, Benoni Northerns – with both games taking place at CBC.
But again the match umpires were forced to stop the action when the rain came down.
There won’t be replays for any of the abandoned matches. Instead, the teams have shared the spoils with each side receiving two points.
Meanwhile, CBC’s early fixture against Springs was revised from 20 to 16 overs with the home side impressing with a six-wicket win. – @SabeloBoksburg
