No casualties or damages reported following storm – EMS
No major serious incidents were reported following a heavy storm in Boksburg yesterday, October 9.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services (EMS) spokesman William Ntladi said they only received a report in Jet Park about a substation which caught fire due to the heavy rain.
“We received the call around 4pm and we managed to extinguish the fire by around 7pm,” said Ntladi.
“Due to the damage to the substation Isando, Elandsfontein, Witfield, Impala Park and areas close to the East Rand Mall were without power.”
Ntladi said Trichardt and Railway streets had to be closed following flooding at the bridge.
No casualties were reported.
