Metro assessing damage at substation in Jet Park this morning

The Advertiser is aware that the metro is assessing damage to the substation in Yaldwyn Road, Jet Park this morning.

The Advertiser will be able to post an update once the assessment has been completed by the metro.
It is believed the storm that struck Gauteng, and also Boksburg, yesterday afternoon was the cause of the damage to the substation. No further details are, however, available at this stage.
Boksburg was hit by widespread power outages with most of the power restored by last night. Jet Park was by early this morning still without power.
On our Facebook page it was posted yesterday evening that a spare 33 kv cable was tested and then energised to run from Witkoppie Ridge substation to the Anderbolt substation which will then feed the Witfield substation. This has not yet been confirmed by the Advertiser.
Updates to follow.
