United’s season opener marred by first team slump

East Rand United began their first day of the brand-new Valke Peregrine League season on a high as the U-21s thumped Springs in their backyard on Saturday, May 6.

It got better for United as the second team followed up by running the hosts out of the building by scoring nine tries.

The Reiger Park first team outfit, however, failed to complete the sweep as the roof caved in when it mattered most as Springs’ first XV had the last laugh with a 49-27 thumping win.
