Taking a look at Owls 2017

With the new Valke Peregrine League season having kicked off over the weekend, the Boksburg Rugby Club will be looking to emulate their impressive run last year when a play-off spot desperately eluded them.

Coach Marcell Fourie and the rest of his management team have responded accordingly by filling the gaps left by a list of players, headed by veteran scrumhalf Dirk Burger, who’s decided to move to the Vereeniging Rugby Club.

One interesting move is the return to the club of seasoned flyhalf Ashley Buchler, who’s come out of retirement to help a club he’s enjoyed large success with before a short spell with the Brakpan Rugby Club.

Important retains include former skipper Travis Howell, whose know-how will be useful to the Owls’ cause.

Strong flank Kyle Lewis, who was colossal during the Owls’ dramatic local derby win against East Rand United at Prince George Park, has also stayed with Boksburg.
