Boksburg: Retired police officer killed while trying to rescue his neighbours
A retired former police officer has been shot and killed while trying to protect his neighbours during a house robbery in Groeneweide, on November 16.
According to Dawn Park SAPS, Constable Nkemeleng Mabula, around midday four armed robbery suspects entered the targeted house and pointed a gun at the victims, who then screamed for help.
“Upon hearing screams, the former officer armed himself and rushed to the neighbour.
“A shoot out occurred between the former officer and the four suspects. Sadly the officer was shot and killed on the scene,” said Mabula.
The four suspects then took the firearm of the deceased and fled the scene.
The police are investigating a case of murder.
“No suspects have been arrested as we are still investigating,” she said.
