Old Boys captain comments on league win

The Advertiser caught up with CBC stalwart and football captain Evan Partridge following his side’s league victory.

The Advertiser asked:

The achievement has been made more important by the fact that you struggled last season, how did the team turn things around so drastically?

We had a major restructure, with a lot of new faces coming into the team. The new guys definitely made a positive difference on the park for us this year.

Briefly describe the season…

The season was very enjoyable; the new faces brought a new energy to the team, which rubbed off on the guys who have been with the side for some years now. This energy was seen in our results and successes this season.

What factors would you say played a role towards the league triumph?

Obviously dropping down a league was a contributing factor, but we did also bring in some quality players this season, which helped to strengthen our side, as well as giving us some depth. There was good moral in the team and they got back to why they started playing in the first place, to have some fun.

What would you like to say to your teammates?

Thanks for an awesome season, we played some great football and had a lot of good times while doing it. Gin and Tin.

How do you see the team faring in the Premier League?

If we manage to keep our same team as this year, we could be competitive, but at the end of the day we are a social side that doesn’t practise, so the Premier League will be quite tough. – @SabeloBoksburg
