The convicted rapist’s last bid to avoid jail failed this week, following the dismissal of his application for direct access to the Constitutional Court, to apply for leave to appeal against his sentence.
Hewitt was convicted of rape and sexual assault in March 2015, and was subsequently sentenced to six years in prison.
He was first charged in the Boksburg Magistrates Court, back in 2013, as two of the offences occurred within its jurisdiction.
