Police battle to solve murders of five people

Homicide detectives are seeking public’s help to solve the murders of five people who were killed in separate incidents between March 20 and August 8, in Boksburg.

A 68-year-old Mozambican man, who worked as a security guard, was shot dead on August 8 while at his workplace at a mine near Cinderella Dam, Reiger Park.

Jose Henrique was with his colleague, when two balaclava-clad gunmen arrived at the mine and held the pair at gunpoint.

The suspects then shot Henrique in the stomach, and fled the scene. He died instantly.

Anyone with the information about the killing is asked to contact the investigating officer Det W/O Ben Olifant on 011 916 7000.

* Police are also seeking witnesses to the June 11 killing of Zito Mike van Heerden, who was gunned down while he was inside a tavern, in Reiger Park.

His assailants are described as two coloured males.

Mbuzeni Patrick Mavimbela was on May 28 stabbed to death by unknown suspects in Ramaphosa, and police are asking anyone with information about the murder to come forward.

* Reiger Park police are also urging possible witnesses and residents to assist them in solving a “mysterious” incident in which two people were shot dead in Ramaphosa Extension Five.

Siphiwe Phumulani Ndaba and Sabelo Peter Hlatshwayo were shot while seated in a parked car, and the motive for the killing remains unknown.

The investigating officer, Det W/O Manie du Preez, wants to talk to anyone with information that can help him solve the above-mentioned string of murders. Du Preez may be reached on 011 916 7000. -@FanieFLK
