No ‘load shedding’ in Van Dyk Park, just damaged cables – metro

The Advertiser recently received numerous complaints from Van Dyk Park residents about load shedding hitting the area for the past two weeks.

Resident Rita Otten said electricity has been going off three times in one week.

“Usually the power goes off in the morning – we struggle to bathe because there is no hot water available for us to use,” Otten said.

According to Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro, the power supply interruption that affected residents in Van Dyk Park was due to a Telkom contractor who accidentally damaged cables supplying power to the affected area.

“There was also one incident of a cable fault that was repaired on Friday, August 12.”
