Sensational local freestyle dancer remains undefeated

The 13 times undefeated South African National Freestyle Dance Champion, Andrea Truter from Boksburg, once again was in fine form when she won the Battle of the Adults Freestyle title at the 2016 Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Festival.

Over 1 000 of the country’s most talented dancers and thousands of spectators converged at Carnival City from August 4 to 7.

One of South Africa’s largest and most prestigious all-style dance competitions, the Battle of the Giants All Styles Dance Festival is an internationally recognised event organised and sanctioned by the South African Body of Dance.

Competitors showcased their talents in a range of freestyle dance techniques, including hip-hop, popping, break dance, freestyle, ballroom, Latin American, slow dance, show dance, jazz, modern, ballet and disco dance.

Truter competed in the 19-and-over championship freestyle and slow dance categories.

She also competed in the disco dance section and disco freestyle section.

A dedicated dance performer, Truter has been dancing since the age of two. She turned 21 in July.

Truter, who dances with Boksburg-based dance company, Nikki Truter Dance Inspiration, is the South African Dance Champion of Champions for 2011 and 2012.
