Shotokan Karate Gauteng shines at nationals
Shotokan Karate Gauteng again took first place at the sixth Shotokan Karate National Championships that took place in Johannesburg, recently.

The region came home with 31 gold, 38 silver and 31 bronze medals.
The Gauteng squad also dominated the unison team events, by taking five gold medals for the six teams entered.
Overall, the Dojo Boksburg, together with the Dojo Benoni, Witbank and Pretoria (Gauteng) came first, followed by Mpumalanga in second place and Boland third.
Regional head instructors sensei John Barnett (Seventh Dan) and Sensei Takis Chaniotakos (Fifth Dan) were impressed with the team’s performance.
The clubs also ranked high at the regional inter club championship, held during May, in Brakpan.
