This is according to a complainant, who said that, in an attempt to repair a possible water leak in Pear Street, Van Dyk Park, the contractors might have broken the pipe and left the site with water flowing all over the place.
The complainant spotted the contractors on site, on May 6, and noticed the burst pipe – with no contractor in sight – the same day, around 3.30pm.
However, contractors were back on site the following day, May 7, to repair the burst pipe.
“Thousands of litres of water have been wasted, as they (the contractors) switched off the water only the following day, at around 10am,” the complainant said.
Nearby streets had to go without water for one night.
The Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the Ekurhuleni municipality.
