Woman arrested for lying about being robbed

A woman who was arrested for perjury will soon appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court.

The complainant reported a common robbery to the Boksburg North SAPS recently.

According to the communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the woman was allegedly pushed into a shop at the East Rand Traders Square and robbed of her handbag, cellphone, rings and a necklace.

Det W/O Willem van Aswegen interviewed the complainant and asked her to take him to the shop where she was robbed.

“She could not point out the shop,” said Coetzer.

“W/O van Aswegen searched the complainant’s vehicle and found the items of which she was allegedly robbed.”

He opened a case of perjury and arrested the suspect.
