Foreign nationals under attack in Angelo

Shops owned by foreign national are currently under attack in Angelo informal settlement.

Advertiser journalist Fanie Mthupha, who is at the scene now, said a man from Lesotho was allegedly shot dead by a foreign shop-owner on Monday night (April 25).

A group of Basotho nationals retaliated by looting the shop overnight.

The group also started attacking all the other foreign-owned shops in the area early this morning.

The situation is still volatile and police are currently in the area in an attempt to quell the violence.

Mthupha reports that the Basotho nationals have even had a confrontation with the police.

About five of them have already been arrested and are locked in a police van.

More details to follow.
