Justice prevails as three are found guilty for theft

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court:

* Zandile Botya (21) of Etwatwa was convicted for theft on April 5.

The accused pleaded guilty and was found guilty as charged after she stole clothes worth R700 from Mr Price on February 20.

The accused had no previous convictions.

She was sentenced to three months in prison or a fine of R1 500.

The accused was also sentenced to a further three years in prison which was suspended for three years.

Magistrate Ryan van Haarte presided and prosecutor Palesa Setshedi represented the state.

* Inet Malema (20) of Angelo informal settlement was convicted for theft on March 31.

She pleaded guilty and the court also found her guilty as charged for stealing a pair of Tommy shoes worth R1 699 from Jet.

She has previous convictions of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in 2012 and two of theft, committed in 2015.

The accused was sentenced to three months in jail.

Magistrate Jakes Thukoane presided and Shadrack Futshana represented the state.

* Portia Mthetwa (44), a Zimbabwean national living in Berea, was convicted for theft on April 4.

The accused stole 30 slabs of chocolate worth R900 from a Game store on February 21.

She pleaded guilty and the court also found her guilty as charged.

She has a previous conviction of theft in July 2011.

She was sentenced to three months in prison, half of which was suspended for five years.

Magistrate Jakes Thukoane presided and prosecutor Tashnee Ramchuran represented the state.
