Birchwood Half Marathon returns in April
The sixth edition of the Birchwood Half Marathon will start and finish at the Birchwood Hotel on Sunday, April 17.
All entries for the race close on March 27 at midnight and no entries will be available on the day of the race.
The marathon will again feature three distances to accommodate everyone: the 5km, the 10km and the 21km.
Race entries for both the 10km and 21km combined are limited to 3 000 participants, with entries for the 5km limited to 500 participants.
Entry prices are R100, R75 and R40 for the 21km, 10km and 5km respectively.
Entry forms can be collected from the Birchwood Hotel or the Sweat Shop in Bedfordview situated on 2 Bedfordview Arcade, Van Buuren Road, or the Sweat Shop Dunkeld in West Centre, Jan Smuts Avenue.
Online entries can be made at www.birchwoodmarathon.co.za or www.championchip.co.za.
Online entrants must provide a copy of their entry and proof of payment when collecting their race number at the above-mentioned entry places.
The first 1 500 participants of the 10km and 21km distances to pre-enter will receive a T-shirt.
Both the 10km and 21km races will start at 6.30am, with the 5km starting an hour later at 7.30am. Prize-giving will get under way from 8.30am.
Times to beat for the 21km are 66:48 minutes, set by last year’s male winner, Lucky Mohale, and 76:32 set by the 2014 female winner, Cornelia Joubert.
